You don't have to drill from each side if you don't want, this will get you through many standard walls. If you need a longer extension, the 12X will do 12". Most opt for the 12" as it is just a little more than the 5.5". Works with 1/2" diameter arbors like the Lenox 1L and LXAH9912PBM.
